New Specialist Bulk Wins – Cleanaway, Victoria and New South Wales

Wettenhalls has recently begun a new long term contract with Cleanaway, transporting processed green waste from Cleanaway’s plant in Clarinda to Gippsland’s Soil and Organic Recycling Facility (SORF) located at Dutson Downs, Gippsland.

The SORF gives businesses a sustainable waste management option to treat and recover prescribed and non-prescribed organic wastes and hydrocarbon contaminated soils, which can then be reused as compost.

Wettenhalls use four low tare weight Graeme Lusty Stag Tipper B-Doubles, with Scania R560 prime movers to achieve this. This complements our existing B-Double Walking Floor combinations. Whilst equipment options under Performance Based Standards were explored, there are several infrastructure restrictions in Gippsland which limited any productivity advantage of doing so.

These combinations are painted with Cleanaway livery as pictured above.

Furthermore, Wettenhalls has immediately consolidated the relationship with Cleanaway by winning another long term General Waste Contract in New South Wales. We are transferring approximately 100,000 tonne per annum from Cleanaway’s newly constructed processing facility in Erskine Park, to Newcastle. High Productivity Combinations operating under Performance Based Standards will be used for this.

A key part of winning both contracts was Wettenhalls attitude to safety. It was stipulated as part of the tender process that the prime movers would be fitted with Guardian Seeing Machine Fatigue Intervention Technology, and we happily inserted this in both contracts as this system is a standard fit out for our fleet.

Wettenhalls looks forward to building the relationship with Cleanaway and helping them make a sustainable future possible.
