The Wettenhalls Group GPS project is further commitment to investing in technology that adds value.

The selection of a suitable vendor was based around the benefits that could be indentified internally to improve compliance and fleet efficiency and what additional value could be provided to our customers by offering information and solutions to improve their business.

The GPS package selected gathers information every two minutes on each vehicle so that we can pin point our equipment in an instant.  Colour coding easily identifies vehicle status, in this case dark green indicates a vehicle has stopped, bright green that the vehicle is moving and yellow that the vehicle is at a way point (more on that later).

Way points, which are defined areas on a map, can be established and used to register a vehicles movement in and out of a point.  The image below shows the section of historical data, highlighting in yellow the location, time of arrival, stop duration and departure time of a specific way point.  This enables Wettenhalls to collect information for all identified customer destinations to improve delivery run efficiencies and generate DIFOT reports, based on specific delivery windows.

Historical data captured can be used to review any vehicles daily journey to identify route or delivery sequence inefficiency, with the aim to reduce the cost of distribution via improved travel and delivery turn around time.

This is just a glimpse of Wettenhalls GPS functionality and as the roll out progresses we will be demonstrating the benefits specific to our customers requirements.  If you would like to know more please do not hesitate to contact the Wettenhalls team.
